Abstract

Sheath rot disease, triggered by Rhizoctonia solani infection, is a major pathological constraint in corn cultivation. Clinical manifestations of this disease are generally indicated by the appearance of necrotic spots on the leaf collar (auricle) and leaf blade, accompanied by tissue decay in the sheath area. This fungal agent has flexible transmission capabilities through air and soil, and can even survive in the soil for more than two years by forming dormant structures called sclerotia. This experiment was conducted in the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Pattimura University, from April 9 to April 20, 2025. The main focus of this study was to explore the potential of plant extract-based biopesticides as alternative control agents that are environmentally friendly and able to maintain the quality of agricultural commodities. Statistical analysis using ANOVA revealed significant variations in the effectiveness of the formulas in suppressing pathogen development. Through these findings, this research is expected to contribute scientifically to the development of more sustainable crop protection methods in corn cultivation management
